Her time is over.
Things are looking up.

She’s dirty and ugly.
He’s wicked but handsome.

Six months to toy with her.
Six months of vacation and a ton of money.

I’ll hurt her beyond repair.
I’ve been through much worse.

She's difficult to control and doesn't obey.
I'm done submitting to anyone or anything in this life.

I should hate her.
I should hate him.

The game has changed.
I will win.

My Review

“I’m captivated by the dark moon that orbits my world.”

Dirty Ugly Toy by Author K. Webster is a standalone dark romance.

“I’d lost every part of who I was, but I’ll always be Jessica.”

Jessica lives a life of question. Going from one man to the next, one hit to the next. But she hasn’t always been this way. She remembers a time when life was different, and that life continually calls out to her for redemption. Braxton Kennedy is a man fixated on his toys. He has a unique yearning for them that shrouds his life of darkness and takes away the nasty edge. Their lives intertwine together in a way that makes us question reality and purpose, but brings us such sweet joy and satisfaction in the end.

“I want to escape from this world. To go and go and go until I run off the page of the infinite universe. To crawl around in the never-ending, quiet blank nothingness. My own personal heaven. My escape from hell.”

I will admit, I’ve read this book twice. The first time, many things were shocking and daunting, as this was my first dark romance read. The second time I read because, at the ending of the initial read, I felt like I had missed pivotal clues. To say these things may make it seem as if I didn’t enjoy it enough in the initial reading to take note of the happenings in the story, when the opposite is actually true. This story clung to me, sometimes with an iron grip, and then others so gently like a soft whisper. It was a paradox of beautiful darkness that invaded my mind and would not leave. I read and reread because I just couldn’t let go. Jessica and Braxton initially seemed so different. Their incongruous lifestyle was a mystery to me. However, I found in reading further that the tie that bound them to each other was the darkness that each tried so desperately to hide. In this, they found solace, and that is what captivated me most in the story. Equality in obscurity, recognizing each other in spite of a clear picture. Their strengths were different, their weaknesses suffocating, but in both, they found light and each other. Author K. Webster gave us a dark, but redemptive story filled with mystery, suspense, twists, anger, hope, and trust. A truly great story!

“Thank you for saving me.”
