Synopsis

She was my first love.
She was my first hate.
The very sun in my world tried to burn me alive with her lies and cruelty.
Until I dimmed her light for good…
Or so I thought.

Now she’s back.
Cracked. Broken. Lost.
And for the first time in a long time, I feel free.
Free from our past. Free from my present that suffocates me. Free to destroy her future.

Her misery is my music.
Thrilling. Invigorating. Intoxicating.

For so long, all I’ve done is hate her.
So why do I love her?

My Review

The Day She Cried by Author K. Webster is a romance like no other. NA with an erotic element, it’s a standalone novel that MUST be read.

“Eyes so dead.  Hearts cold. Today is my prison.  Tomorrow is my savior. “

I have been a fan of K. Webster’s books since I found her several years ago. I have read every book she’s published since that time. Although this book can be seen as a somewhat dark, it is far removed from some of her other dark novels. Still maintaining her unique ability to draw a reader in and capture them heart, mind, and soul, she has written a novel that speaks of the world we now live in, our advancements, and the consequences they carry.

“The world is mean.  Best if she learns it now.”

This story held so many little intricate pieces were laid out, pushed together, broken apart, twisted, and readhered. My heart was cracked, broken, and shattered. An inexplicable sadness was the backdrop to this story of love born from tragedy.

“She hides in plain view.  Hides the monsters and the hate and the pain.”

But, I loved how the author let small beacons of light peek through for our characters, showcasing their true self in so many different ways. There were moment in which I had to tightly hang onto these details with both hands, and hope for better days and happier times.

“Your tears belong to me.  Every single last salty one of them.”

The Day She Cried was a story of life, loss, and the power of truth and forgiveness. It easily became a favorite of this year and from this author.
