Synopsis

Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot.

When I show up on the doorstep of Blue Stone Ranch, I’m run-down and rockin’ my last pair of underwear. I’m hoping for a savior, but instead, I find him.

My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill. To him, I’m more trouble than I’m worth.

Our button-pushing banter should get under my skin. His arrogance should be a major turn-off. Problem is, devils are known to offer their own form of temptation.

Every one of his steely glares sends a shiver down my spine.

Every steamy encounter leaves me reeling.

Sure, it could be the Texas heat messing with my head, but there’s no way I’ll survive the summer without silencing him with a kiss and wrestling him out of those Wranglers.

Who knows…going to bed with the devil might just be the salvation I’ve been looking for all along.

My Review

Arrogant Devil by Author R. S. Grey is an enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy novel. It is a standalone.

“My grandson is a good man, but he often thinks the sun comes up just to hear him crow. He could strut sittin’ down. I mean, I love him, but sometimes it’s like hugging a rose bush.”

Talk about getting off on the wrong foot.  Woah!  Jack and Meredith aren’t equipped to deal with one another.  Of course, Meredith’s sister played a small hand in that. But, now the seed has been planted, and what grows from it is a show-stopper.

“Standing there, watching him strip, my gaze pinballed from one detail to the next: his broad shoulders, his toned forearms, his Adonis V. HE HAD THE V, HALLELUJAH—except, from what I saw with my own eyes, his should really be called the Adonis Y for reasons I’ll leave up to your imagination.”

Oh my gosh.  Sometimes you just a need good laugh…or ten…or twenty.  You also need the swoon and slow burn.  It’s rare that you can get all of these in a novel of this type, but Author R. S. Grey flawlessly achieved each.  Reading the internal thoughts of Meredith was golden.  I loved her!  She took punches with grace and threw them back with fierce feminine potency.  Jack had no choice but to fall for her determined and audacious ways.  But, he was also a prize to be caught.  I adored every moment of their futile tug of war.

“…if there have to be consequences, make them all worth it.”

There were so many thoughtful and sweet moments.  Some were like rubbing salt in an open wound.  Others were that first lick of a lollipop when the burst of flavor hits your tongue and makes you smile and salivate just a little extra.  And holy fleck!  Edith was my life hero!  This woman made the world fill with rainbows and unicorns each time she came into view. Her sassy and in-your-face ways completed this novel in such a spectacular way.

“I AM GOING TO HAVE SEX WITH THIS HOT COWBOY IN THE BED OF A PICKUP TRUCK LIKE IT’S MY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT.”

Arrogant Devil was the perfect make-me-happy, give-me-good-vibes read.   One of my favorite rom-coms.  Loved it!

“I promise you, he’s a lover, not a fighter.”

About R. S. Grey

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way, I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things... everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors include Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things "funny". Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.
