Synopsis

When I said I would kill for her, I meant it. When I said I would die for her, I meant that, too.

But protection comes with a price and so does my life.

I can’t hold her.
I can’t speak to her.
I can’t even see her.

The most important piece of my life is gone.

I had everything.
I had Winnie.
And just like that, my unconditional love vanished.

Picking up the pieces is impossible.
There’s no easy way to fall out of love.
But that’s exactly what I have to do.

The Edge of Heaven is the emotional conclusion to Wrong Side of Heaven.

My Review

The Edge of Heaven by Author Gia Riley is book two in the Broken Wings Duet.  It is a coming-of-age romance, mixed with a form of a hybrid love triangle, and a splash of the forbidden.

“…sometimes, we had to get knocked down lower than we’d ever been in order to appreciate the possibility of more. I had another chance to pick and choose which piece of myself to bring along with me, and then I’d leave the rest behind. It wouldn’t be easy, but this time, I wanted to rise higher than ever before.”

When I finished the first book in this series, I felt like I had literally hit a wall.  I knew it was coming, but I went running, eyes open, straight into it.

“The future can’t wash away the past, no matter how hard you try to scrub away the memories. I am who I am. I’m Winnie Dawes, trailer trash.”

In The Edge of Heaven, Author Gia Riley gives us a novel that slays our hearts, entices our insatiable need for the untouchable, and moves us in ways that only her words can.  We are reintroduced to Winnie, Trey, and Jasper.  Their affections are still being weighed in the balance, leaving us in constant wonder of which way they will tip.

“You deserve to be more than a secret.”

I was scared.  I was so unsure of the story direction and expected to feel solid footing much sooner than I did; this was not a negative to the story, but definitely drove the level of anticipation to its highest peak. I could not control my emotional outbursts throughout this novel.  I chose a side…finally.  And I felt like a spoiled child, pitching fits of tears and screams, consumed by character actions and outcomes.

“…for the first time in her life, she’s alive. She jumped from the edge of heaven and into forever.”

I was not at all expecting the end that Author Gia Riley gave us.  The hope and promise of a future that I sensed at the end of this novel was one that came by way of character maturity and acceptance of the inevitable.  I would still love to get more of this storyline in the future, as I feel like there will be so much more to these characters’ lives than where we ended, and I’ve had such a difficult time letting them go.

“…choose to believe.”
