Synopsis

The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office.
I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills.
He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.

Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant.
Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.

Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He’d been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.
Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent.
I was swindled out of ten grand.

The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place.
I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients. But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind.
I never expected my body to react every time we argued. Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.

The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell, destroyer of relationships. And my job was to help people save their marriages.
The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing.
And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.

My Review

Egomaniac by Vi Keeland is a new standalone, friends-to-lovers romance.

Emerie has just moved to the Big Apple and is getting a crash course on what not to do. Drew is a high-priced divorce lawyer.  Meeting Emerie is a shock to his system, but a definite 10 for his I-want-to-have-my-way-with-you-all-night-long meter.  Their unlikely meeting spawns a special friendship that is unlike anything either of them have ever experienced, and changes them in more ways than imaginable.

“I think your body likes me, and your head is fighting it. The two should fight it out like adults – naked in the bedroom with me.”

Author Vi Keeland never disappoints. Egomaniac was such a fun story. Drew Jagger had an egotistical but undeniably sexy way about him that was a magnet to Emerie.  And she was the unicorn for him:  brains, kindness, and a heap of T and A.

As the story progressed, constant reminders were present as to why I love to read this author’s work. Quick whit, intelligent dialogue, sizzling sex, and tumultuous turns were splashed throughout the pages, creating a story I was so happy I’d picked up and did not want to put down.

“I couldn’t explain why I felt the things I did for Drew any more than I could explain the taste of water. Yet somehow, he had become a necessity for me, and I was in no way ready to take on a drought.”

There was one aspect of the story that I especially enjoyed. I am a quote fanatic, and while Author Vi Keeland is a way-with-words queen, I do believe Drew tried to steal her thunder, coming up with some pretty unique thoughts of his own that made me giggle and wiggle. Whether written or spoken, his words could make the temperature in a room heat up to inferno in under 2.2 seconds.  The man was just a dream!

Egomaniac gave me so much more than just a sexy man on the cover. It was a story filled with tantalizing chemistry, fabulous characters, cheeky quotes, and an untouchable HEA.

“You’re the red in my black and white world.”

About Vi Keeland

Vi Keeland is a native New Yorker with three children that occupy most of her free time, which she complains about often, but wouldn't change for the world. She is a bookworm and has been known to read her kindle at stop lights, while styling her hair, cleaning, walking, during sporting events, and frequently while pretending to work. She is a boring attorney by day, and an exciting smut author by night!
