Synopsis

Midge Everette.
I'm forty-one today.
It's my birthday,
And I'm crying over burnt toast.
That's not some euphemism.
Literally, I'm sobbing over stupid bread,
so I call a crisis center.
I just need someone to talk to about life.
Only I recognize the smoky voice of the man on the line.
In the name of all things, don't let it be...

Hank Paige.
As a former rock star,
I once had it all.
Fame. Fortune. Females.
Except for the one thing I wanted most.
Now, I fix cars and restore other people's dreams.
I just want to be somebody's someone.
And there's a certain woman with captivating eyes,
I want to fulfill my dreams.
For the love of all things, please let it be her...

In the midst of questioning everything,
could love be the resolution to a midlife crisis?

My Review

Midlife Crisis by Author L. B. Dunbar is an over-40 romance with a stunning silver fox.

“I’m afraid to let go. I might float away.”

Midge is a single mom of three boys. Romance is something she thinks may never happen again for her. But, a chance meeting with the irresistible Hank lights a fire that she had kept hidden for far too long.

“Time to walk on the wild side. Make a wish, little lady, and take a bite.”

I was literally jumping up and down with the start of this story. Oh yeh! This is not your teenage or college romance. This is how the 40-ish adults do it…and boy do we know how!

“…he can’t have you. You were made for me. You’re my cupcake, and only I get to sample you.”

I swooned for the silver fox. Hardcore and edgy Hank, and his timid, sweet, and sexy Midge. What a pair! Watching these two grow in their relationship, going from a spark to reawakening of immeasurable desire, was rousing. I loved that Midge wasn’t some crazy, experienced, sex-crazed woman. She was reserved. She knew her preferences, her desires. She wanted to love and feel loved. Hank was just the man to change her everything and become his. He was the reformed bad boy, who still hung onto those tendencies in all the best ways. But, he knew a treasure when he found it.

“I want to be somebody’s someone.”

Author L. B. Dunbar did a fabulous job in giving us a story of more seasoned characters while keeping the story true to their age and stage in life. But, don’t think that this detoured our characters from having fun and finding out E-VE-RY sweet spot they could use to tempt and tantalize each other. Whew! If pages could blush, they would.

“…I want to fill you up, your heart, your soul. All of me for all of you.”

Midlife Crisis exposed a new shade of silver in an over-40 love story with mature steam and stamina.

About L. B. Dunbar

Avid drinker of Coca-Cola, L.B. Dunbar loves the sweet things in life. Her affair with all things romantic began with her first book at the tender age of six: Goldilocks and the Three Bears. One can never forget her first! From there, the reading journey includes a deep love of fairy tales, medieval knights, regency debauchery, and alpha males. She loves a deep belly laugh and a strong hug. Occasionally, she has the energy of a Jack Russell terrier. Accused, yes, that’s the correct word, of having an over active imagination; to her benefit, such an imagination works well. Author of over a dozen novels, she’s created small town worlds, rock star mayhem, and MMA chaos. Her other duties in life include: mother to four growing children and wife to the one and only.
