Synopsis

I used to imagine that life would be easier, more enjoyable, if I were tall, blond, and supermodel thin. But real life—like the average, every day woman—is full of curves and imperfections, and many opportunities to learn that it’s not the number on the scale that measures the capacity of your heart.

After years of struggling with poor self esteem and too many crash diets to count, I finally got wise—and hired a trainer. With an enthusiastic push from my brother’s fiancé and more motivation than a Joel Osteen sermon, I, Madeline “Leni” Moore, am ready to ditch the oh-woe-is-me act.

That is, until I smack head-on into a tree and collide with him. Lane Sheffield is the guy you drool over from afar. One look at him the first day on the runner’s track, and my panties are up in flames. He’s out of my league. Slim, sleek, and athletic to my plump, dull, and unfit. Lane has no reason to like me, but to my utter shock . . . he does and this newfound attention from the opposite sex has me all sorts of baffled.

What starts out as a healthy journey to lose some of the extra me, turns into a quest to find my true self. Will the need to fit in and finally have someone to call my own lead me to my weight loss goal or my happiness goal? I've focused so long on being skinny, what will it take for me to learn the ultimate lesson—that beauty is only skin deep?

My Review

“Well, butter my biscuit. I’m glad my garden’s in good shape.”

Moore to Love by Faith Andrews is a new, romantic comedy, standalone novel.

“…let’s call the world my triple decker bacon burger with mushrooms and cheddar.”

Leni’s life has always revolved around food and family. They’ve been her go-to for pretty much everything.  Moments of happiness sadness, desperation, and rejection  were always met with these two staples.  When she is challenged to make a change, she is unprepared for the opportunities that come knocking at her door, and we see the true character of Leni come to the surface.

“You have a fire inside of you that burns so brightly it makes me want to be around you all the time.”

Moore to Love was an infectious novel, seeping into my every pore and taking up residence. It was a read that hit close to home on so many levels, and gave voice to feelings that many people face. But, it also showed strength in feminine beauty and gave place to the prowess of the female mind.  Leni was a powerhouse.  She was the best of the best in her field of work. She had determination, grit, and a level of sass that made my jaw drop open and prodded a roll of laughter. Experiencing her day-to-day life as her transformation took place was a roller coaster of emotions, as she let go of past thoughts and criticisms and embraced the new her.  She knitted herself into so many people’s lives and left a lasting impression. Lane was Leni’s knight in fancy pants and running shoes. He was sweet, complimentary, supportive, and had some romantic surprises up his sleeve. Together, their story was a dreamer’s delight. Two people who never thought it would happen for them found each other and the vision they had been running after, overcoming obstacles and their pasts along the way.

“You’re the first place trophy. Every, single bit of you.”

The moral of this story?  Love yourself. Grab ahold of you and dream big. Never give up. And never let the size or shape of your body keep you from finding and feeling loved. It is a need-to-know, must-read for all the lady and gentleman romance lovers.

“Leave your negativity at the door.”
