They say that life is a beautiful lie and death a painful truth. They're right.
No one has ever made me feel more alive than the guy who serves as a constant reminder that my clock is ticking.
He is my forbidden, shiny apple.
The striking fallacy to my blunt, raw, truth.
He is also my sister's ex-boyfriend.
One thing you should know before you judge me;
I saw him first. I craved him first. I loved him first.
Eleven years later, he waltzed into my life, demanding a second chance.
Dean Cole wants to be my bronze horseman. My white knight has finally arrived. Hopefully, he isn’t too late.

They say the brightest stars burn out the fastest. They’re right.
She sets my mind on fire.
All smart mouth, snarky attitude and a huge heart.
In a world where everything is dull, she shines like fucking Sirius.
Eleven years ago, fate tore us apart.
This time, I fucking dare it to try.
Getting to her is a battlefield, but man, that’s why they call me Ruckus.
Rosie LeBlanc is about to find out how hard I can fight.
And conquering her will be the sweetest victory.

My Review

Ruckus by Author L. J. Shen is book two in the Sinners of Saint Series.

SHOULD PROBABLY GET ONE thing out of the way before we begin. My story? It doesn’t have a happy ending. It won’t. It can’t. No matter how tall or handsome or rich and captivating my Prince Charming might be.

Author L. J. Shen is one of the anti-hero queens!  We love to hate them and hate to love them.  But, in the end, all of these HotHoles get under our skin. Dean Cole had his share of life’s extras; women, drugs, and alcohol were his vices.  But he’s always had his eye on her, Rosie, the sarcastic and sweet young girl who was always working on a time schedule.

I hated everything about Dean Cole. Everything…but him.

There was no doubt that Rosie and Dean’s chance at love would be like watching a train wreck, a disaster that you see coming, but couldn’t quite seem to turn away from.  But what began as a Romeo and Juliet tale morphed into a love so beautiful, it demanded that you stop and stare.

“You are chaotic, crazy, and full of wars and angst. But you’re the liveliest place I’ve ever been to.”

Finding a love story that showcases the hero and heroine in their quest to find an elusive love is always one that makes me sit up, take notice, and become an obsessed reader.  The added semblance between some biblical characters and Rosie and Dean’s story was a phenomenal parallel, and was another highlight for me in this novel.  Ruckus was a bit different than Author L. J. Shen’s previous novels in this series.  But, different does not mean that it was lacking.  Quite the opposite There was plenty of heat, not quite in the same way that we saw with the other HotHoles.  This heat was deep and penetrating and touched everyone that came in its path.

“I live for you. I breathe for you. I will die for you. It. Has. Always. Been. You.”

I envisioned Rosie’s strength as an umbrella that covered her and Dean. At first, it didn’t seem big enough for the twists and heartaches that were to come, but when she had to pull that rain protector out of her trunk, it was tabletop-sized and fit to handle the tsunami that became their love story. In turn, Dean shocked us with his unending pursuit of a happily-ever-after for himself and the woman he had always loved.

Ruckus was an angst-filled, moving, and inspirational story where the HotHole finally got his girl, the one he was always meant to have, and made her dreams come true.

And I now have my happily-ever-after. At least in this moment. Now is forever, at least for me. For I am not a wilting Rose, I’m in full bloom. Thanks to him.
