Synopsis

CHARMED FOR LIFE?

Thanos Agapiou has always been a charmer. For over two millennia, the vampire had no problem acquiring whom and what he wanted with a flash of his handsome smile. He took for granted the boyish good looks he presumed he’d possess for the rest of eternity.

How very wrong he was.

A nearly fatal attack distorted his entire existence. With his appearance now matching the title many have bestowed their kind—monster—he hides away from the world and all of those who know him, including his Ancient, Eton.
Until one night when a stranger draws him out from the shadows.

OR CURSED FOR ETERNITY?

Ever since Paris Antoniou was thrust into a world of vampires, his reality has become stranger than the history and the myths he’s studied for the past decade.

When he learns the truth about his origins and the power he wields, his confusion and fear have him running for his life. What he doesn’t expect is to run into the arms of Thanos—a vampire who doesn’t intimidate him as much as he intrigues him.

WHAT HAS THE POWER TO MAKE YOU WANT TO SURVIVE?

As their worlds collide under extraordinary circumstances, an attraction neither can deny takes hold. But will that be enough to save Thanos from his demons, or will he condemn Paris to his fate?

Destinies have been changed. Lines have been crossed. And, with tales of the vampire race coming to an end, who will make the ultimate sacrifice?
After all, in a world run by vampires and gods, only one can be the true Master among the Monsters.

My Review

Thanos is book three in the Masters Among Monsters series by Author Ella Frank.  It is a paranormal series that must be read in order to be fully enjoyed.

“You seem more like the kind who wishes to be romanced.  But that is not me. Not now, not ever.  I am not the knight who will save you…I am the night in your nightmares.”

We have gotten an in-depth look at all of the Ancients and their sires.  We have seen how they came to be, what obstacles they have had to overcome, and the unique bonds they have formed with each other.  It has also become apparent through each book that the three men meant to be their end, Paris, Leo, and Elias, have somehow refreshed them. Now, it’s time for Thanos’ story.

“You are our destruction – but for me, you will also be my salvation.”

Oh my squeee!   I was so flipping excited to get Thanos’ story.  This entire series has been nothing short of phenomenal. All of the relationships between the Ancients and their sires have intrigued me. But, the underlying story of Thanos and Eton was the most fascinating, especially given the ending of Isadora.  Their history was one of pain and hurt that was a necessity for life.  It was astonishing and sad. The bitter-sweet connection they had with one another left me feeling void and empty. I hurt for them and for their previous unfortunate luck and loss.

Continuing with the paranormal aspects of the story, Author Ella Frank infused greater aspects from the world of the vampires and Greek gods, always weaving them flawlessly together so as to transfix us with their intricacies. The story itself was fast and thrilling.   I never knew what human or non-human lay in wait with the next turn of the page.  The characters continued to be the high drawing points, each having their own special skills and abilities. I was constantly allured by them.  The heat level was just a bit more chill than in previous books, but very fitting for the direction to which the story proceeded.  A definite rope of angst caused me to tear through every page, devouring words, sentences, paragraphs.  It was like an unquenchable thirst and I was being offered the perfect sip of cool water, seeing the glass that was filled with more.

I do have to comment on the ending as I felt a bit perplexed by its direction.  I was happy with the outcome, but it almost seemed as if a huge part of the story was missing to rush the ending along.  If the rest of the novel had not been so detailed and exact, I may not have felt that way.  But, because of how meticulous the author was with every other facet of the story, the ending threw me for a bit of a loop.  It was definitely an HEA, but lacked the complete euphoric feeling that I thought would accompany me reading the final pages. However, I do still highly recommend this novel and series.

Thanos was a paranormal thriller, a battle of wills and hearts, that created a rush when reading and gave me more of these supernatural characters that I have loved.

“You are like the thorns on a rose, Thanos. A painful beauty.  One I will always want to hold, no matter the blood it draws from me.”
