Synopsis

I was warned about Tristan Cole.

“Stay away from him,” people said.
“He’s cruel.”
“He’s cold.”
“He’s damaged.”

It’s easy to judge a man because of his past. To look at Tristan and see a monster.

But I couldn’t do that. I had to accept the wreckage that lived inside of him because it also lived inside of me.

We were both empty.
We were both looking for something else. Something more.
We both wanted to put together the shattered pieces of our yesterdays.

Then perhaps we could finally remember how to breathe.

I received this book for free from Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Guest Review by Tammy Cole

This was such a beautiful love story that everyone should read. It had me glued to my kindle from the prologue. My heart was pulled in so many directions. It was heartbreaking, beautiful, sweet, funny, I laughed and cried throughout the book.

“She undressed me and made love to her past. I slid into her and made love to my ghosts. It wasn’t right, yet somehow it made sense. Her soul was scarred, and mine was burned.”

Tristan is the town a**hole who has lost his entire family and he doesn’t care what others think of him. Elizabeth and her daughter Emma just returned back to town after being away for a year mourning the loss of her husband. All 3 of them are deeply mourning the losses they each have endured when Elizabeth has an encounter with Tristan. He tries his best to live up to his reputation, but Elizabeth looks past all of that and sees a man who is sad and hurting.

“You know that place between nightmares and dreams? The place where tomorrows never come and yesterdays don’t hurt anymore? The place where your heart beats in sync with mine? The place where time doesn’t exist, and it’s easy to breathe? I want to live there with you.”

I connected with these characters so much that I felt their pain as if it was my own. Brittainy does an amazing job of writing this story. She not only had two main characters that I loved, but also a best friend in the story, Faye, who is a friend everyone should have in their lives. I also love a story of a man who not only falls in love with the woman but her child, and boy does Brittainy deliver on that. This will easily be one of my favorite reads this year. One click this book right away. You will not regret it.

“Then there was Elizabeth. The beautiful woman who loved me when I didn’t deserve to be loved. Her touch healed me, her love saved me. She was more than any words could ever convey. She was simply the air I breathed.”

Brittainy Cherry has been in love with words since the day she took her first breath. She graduated from Carroll University with a Bachelors Degree in Theatre Arts and a minor in Creative Writing. She loves to take part in writing screenplays, acting, and dancing--poorly of course. Coffee, chai tea, and wine are three things that she thinks every person should partake in! Brittainy lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her family. When she's not running a million errands and crafting stories, she's probably playing with her adorable pets.
