Synopsis

I thought it was just one night with my brother’s best friend. The boy I had dreamt about since he gave me my first kiss, under the lights of the Ferris wheel.

I knew he was about to leave for a year – no chance for a future.

But our one night together would create memories for a lifetime.

Our paths crossed again, but I had lied, and he was no longer the man he once was. He was warring against demons. Against the silence that was threatening to swallow him. And I had kept a secret from him, one he would never forgive me for.

But my secret was about to be ripped open. Displayed for the world on national news. And I had only one way to repair the damage.

I had to trust the man I lied to.

The man I never got the chance to make a life with.

The only man who could save what we had created together.

My Review

“She deserves more. She deserves better.  And I want to be the man to give it to her.”

Warrior is the first full length novel in the First to Fight series by Author Nicole Blanchard. It is hot and sexy, with this wonderful touch of taboo that always makes me want to delve right in and stay for a while.

“I thought I was broken before?  That is nothing compared to the desolation I feel now.  Now I am a warrior put to pasture and forced to rejoin the world with death and destruction on my conscience.”

Who doesn’t love a sexy military man?  We have the opportunity to meet Ben, who is at a crossroads in his life with a girl he’s noticed for quite some time. Olivia has had her eye on Ben since he became friends with her brother. But, she reminds herself that there is a line that must be drawn between them due to several factors.  We all know what happens when someone says, “Look but don’t touch.”  We covet it until it becomes ours.  And this is where our story takes off, meandering through many situations, twists, and turns, as we are given a memorable story of love.

“I promise you that you won’t have to go through anything alone.”

Warrior was an excellent beginning to the First to Fight series.  Written in first person points of view, there was a raw pull and tug that yanked me into the words. The scenes came alive and the people felt as if they were real. They brought with them joy, hurt, devastation, regret, and redemption.  The dialogue between Jack, Logan, and Ben was exactly what I would expect from three military buddies. It flowed easily and was no-nonsense.  The love that was evident between Olivia and another very important character was absolutely one of the most touching moments I have read in a book; my heart was full.  I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to experience every moment in this book, and look forward to the next in the series.

“How am I supposed to say goodbye when we’ve barely said hello.”
