Synopsis

Determined to establish a new life far from the ghosts of her past, twenty-two year old Sydney Paige is willing to try anything to launch her reporting career and quiet the painful memories of her family back home.

Money-driven Mason Lachlan knows exactly what he wants in life and how to get it. Nothing stands in the way of the successful millionaire’s next deal, not even the deeply-buried anguish he feels from being abandoned by his father and tucked away as a dark family secret.

When Sydney must report the biggest land deal to hit South Padre in years, Mason becomes the focus of her story. Problems surface when their undeniable attraction for each other compromises everything they both have worked for.

Can love exist when bottom lines and deadlines collide?

Guest Review by Tammy Cole

This book grabbed me from the very beginning as I was so intrigued with the main characters.  Mason, a strong and a highly successful businessman.  Sydney, who was a strong female, with a new career in journalism that she was determined to make a success.  With their encounter at the land where Mason is building a resort, you can feel the tension and attraction between the two.  Both are determined to fight for what they want which isn’t exactly the same thing to begin with.

Mason and Sydney’s attraction to each other is off the charts and they both agree on keeping things light and fun between them.  Both of them agreeing to put a stop to their relationship as soon as either one wants to walk away.  As they spend more time together you can see how good they are together as a couple but Mason and Sydney both have different ideas on how to best communicate with each other.

“I walked from behind her and stood facing her so that my body blocked her view of the hotels.  ‘Right now I only see you.’  I traced the side of her face.  ‘But it doesn’t mean what’s behind me doesn’t matter to me.  I need help figuring out how to do both, I guess.'”

I really enjoyed the story line and I loved that this was told in a dual pov.  Mason is a spin off character from her other series, Kissing Eden, which I didn’t read, so I felt like I was missing the background behind Mason’s relationship with his family.  But, the author did provide the information at around 70 percent into the book.  I would definitely recommend that you one click this book as it is a fast paced romance that will leave you rooting for an HEA.  I also am hoping for follow up book as there were some questions regarding Sydney’s past that were never answered in this book.

“I kissed her hard. I wanted her to know I wouldn’t let her down. I would be there for her. I would love her. Make love to her. Fight with her. Make up with her. Kiss her when she needed to be kissed. Hold her when she had one of those days.  I wanted her to know I loved her every way I knew how to love.”
