Synopsis

Love in the no-fly zone…

Distraught over the loss of her brother in a fighter jet accident, Tinklee Pinkerton decides to follow in his footsteps and prove the tragedy wasn’t his fault. But when she’s chosen as the first woman to fly the Air Force’s F-35, her plan for a life that revolves around work is thrown off course by a handsome, mysterious stranger…

Thanks to Locke’s seductive British accent, sweet nature, and one too many beers, Tink is soon inspired to throw caution to the wind and herself into his arms. She thinks maybe love can heal after all—until she discovers Locke is her superior officer. Tink has no problem risking her life in the air, but with everything on the line, is she brave enough to risk her heart on the ground?

Review

“I was empty.  Broken.  There was nothing left of me.”

Tinklee Pinkerton is about to be granted her dream and opportunity of a lifetime, to fly one of the newest and hottest jets that the Air Force has to offer.  But, this was the same jet that allowed a life she loved to be ripped from her.  The dream to fly had been hers and her brothers and now she would be doing it alone.

“Muscular, tan, tall, and wow those electrifying eyes.  Holy hell, this guy was freaking hot.  He was going to have a really good mug shot.”

Locke is a sexy as sin military man.  He and Tink unexpectedly meet on the beach after she has had a little too much to drink, and is off-balance emotionally.  Their attraction to one another is instant, and things get heated up quickly before either of them has the chance to get to know the other.

“He was as close to perfect as me came and every girl’s dream  As much as I enjoyed hanging out with him, I was not going to bring anyone else in the middle of my mess”

To spice things up a bit, Author Jamie Rae offers a third main character who is as inviting as Locke, but with a little outward charm that Locke doesn’t always allow to show through.  He cares for Tink and wants to be the most important person in her future.

“We had sex once. That doesn’t make you a tuning fork for my emotions.  Stay out of my head, and stick to teaching me how to fly the jet.”

Things get a little saucy when Tink and Locke have what appears to be a misunderstanding about a subject matter that is very near and dear to Tink.  She is crushed and does only what she knows how to do, which is retreat.

We follow the main characters throughout the course of the story as they fight not only with themselves and their personal demons, but also with enemy combatants who have no care for their lives.  We see them when they are at their best and worst.

There were a few things that struck me from the very beginning of this story. I love that Author Jamie Rae picked the name Tinkerlee for the main female character.  That name is fairy-like feminine, and endearing;  it immediately drew me to Tink.  However, I like that the sweet, feminine Tink was not a one-dimensional character, but was presented to be strong enough to handle military duty, attractive enough to turn heads, and emotional enough to allow herself to feel.  And Locke, a military man who is hot and has a British accent.  Well, I think that’s all I have to say about that!  These characters instantly hooked me to the storyline.  Locke’s own personal battle had me reeling.  Tink’s realization of her own abilities and worth, while dealing with the truth of her brother’s death was astounding.  And Ash’s commitment to remaining focused and keeping those safe that he cared for even at the cost of his own life was remarkable.  All of these aspects created a wonderful military romance story.

A small snippet of a quote that, to me, describes Call Sign Karma.  It was…

“…Toe-curling, heart-flipping, cause-me-to-loose-all-good-sense…”
