Synopsis

When my husband Oliver died, my life ended. My purpose, my passion, my everything bled out with him on the side of the Pacific Coast Highway.

Ollie was an organ donor. His eyes, his brain, his lungs, his heart…parts of my Ollie went out and saved lives.

Then His heart, beating in another man’s chest, found its way back to me, and I found myself faced with an impossible choice: hold on to the pain and beauty of the past and the memory of the man I loved, or reach for a bold new
future, knowing each heartbeat will be a reminder of all I’ve lost.

•••

I wasn’t supposed to live past thirty.

My grandfather died at forty-five. Heart failure.

My father died at thirty-five. Heart failure.

The doctors told me my whole life that I wouldn’t see my thirty-first birthday. My heart was going to give out. It was just a matter of time: a rare blood type and an unusually large heart meant essentially zero chance of a transplant.

I proved them all wrong…by dying on my thirty-first birthday.

And then I woke up, alive, with another man’s heart inside my chest, and his widow on my conscience.

I spent my whole life preparing for death, and now I have to learn how to live. Only, as I soon discovered, living is the easy part.

Loving, and allowing myself to be loved…well, that’s a whole lot harder.

My Review

Yours by Author Jasinda Wilder is a standalone, second chance romance novel.

“…my lips on his is the entirety of everything, it’s life and breath and the sky above and the earth beneath and the wind all around.”

Lachlan Montgomery is living his life to its fullest. He is carefree, flies by the seat of his pants, and dares to defy odds. Niall Emory James has experienced life in the fast lane, every part and piece of it. Now she just wants to make it through each day.

Jasinda Wilder has written some fabulous books. She was one of my first one-click authors. But, Yours is one of my favorites of her books. I had been waiting for this book. The cover and then synopsis made me want it immediately. I one-clicked it, literally the instant it released. And then I realized how much I’ve been anticipating a read like this. Everyone deserves a second chance.

“That kiss. That’s when I know. He’s it. He’s my only. “

You know when you start reading a book and the thought hits you that this book is going to epic? This was my exact thought as I read the first bit of Yours. I had goosebumps, and my goosebumps had goosies too.

“That cuts me right to the core, to the gut. To the bone. To the heart beating in my chest.”

Yours was a story of inspiration. Both the hero and heroine lived lives in the moment and day, driving each second, minute, and hour to become the next best day of their lives. But, each came to a crossroad that was life-changing. The different points of view were distinct and fitting for both characters, each portraying thoughts of a tangible male and female perspective. There were so many reminiscent times, every one set to be a reminder of past lives, present circumstances, and finally future hopes. One by one, their story pulled out of me boundless emotions that required tissues for both tears of joy and sadness. There were roads with seemingly no end that all led to the same place, the same feelings, the same lives. It was stunningly beautiful, like a fairy tale with an ending beyond measure. There was a point in the book where it took a hot turn in a fast minute and set my Kindle on fire. The intense need, want, ache, and desire was not to be overshadowed by the ultimate pleasure and fulfillment that this heat contained. It was a fire that blazed higher each time it was stoked, giving a story climax that seared onto the pages of my heart.

Yours exchanged sorrow for joy, death for life, and past love for a second chance. It was deeply moving, a unique and breathtaking novel that I highly recommend.

“The only true measure of a person is what they do with their life.”
