Synopsis

Broken…
Shattered…

Evangelina Ricci is trapped in a world that’s a never-ending nightmare, a constant ache in which consumes her every breath. Unable to bear the torture any longer, she does the one thing she can to take back control.

Run.

With her best friend Jace in tow, Evangelina attempts to escape her darkened past by leaving for college and diving head first into an aggressive schedule, determined with everything she is to make a name for herself. There’s only one problem—she can’t run away from the demons she struggles with. The demons that’ll forever be there, locked inside, battering her soul. Hiding behind a flawless façade, Evangelina faces her ghosts until her world is turned upside down, invaded by…him.

Blake Turner. Sweet, witty, flirtatious and drop-dead gorgeous, he finds Evangelina at every turn. Scared he’ll uncover the truth she keeps so well guarded, Evangelina tries her best to put on her act, deterring him like she has so many times before—only this guy’s different. He’s relentless. Utterly, absolutely and completely relentless. He sees her and he wants her and won’t stop until she’s his.

Will Evangelina succeed in pushing Blake away? Or will he break down her walls and be the person to make her realize life is worth living?

My Review

Live Me by Author Celeste Grande is an NA novel and book one in the Pieces of Broken series. It is not a standalone.

“I was one big mirage—a house of mirrors. I could keep you running in circles, seeing a million different faces of myself, but none of them were the real, flesh and blood, true-to-life me.”

Eva’s past has left her crippled and emotionally unavailable. Attempting to start new and leave a damaged past, she moves away to college where she meets the man she never dreamed she could have. Blake is confident that Eva came straight from the heavens down to him. And he is ready to take on her demons to give her freedom.

“You make me want to battle the world just to keep you safe. You do things to me I can’t even understand myself half the time. You’re everything to me…”

If you like gripping beginnings that send chills through your body, Live Me is for you. If you love a slow-burn with ever-expanding angst, you NEED Live Me. And, if you are in the market for a sweet and oh-so-hot, sweep-you-off-your-feet romance, Live Me will make you happy dance. Just have the tissues handy.

“Everyone knew me, but no one knew me. No one knew what I thought or how I felt or what was really inside, bottled up and waiting to explode like a shaken up can of soda. And I preferred it that way. Let no one in—ever.”

One of my favorite things about Live Me was the depth of the characters. I could so identify with Eva. Being in public and always looking for the nearest escape route. Calculating your moves beforehand. Watching those around you with skepticism. This poor girl. Life was exhausting for her. We saw her vulnerability and pain, but began to witness her exodus and strength.

“…I’m not gonna stop until your legs are numb and shaking around my head.”

Blake. *Melts into a puddle at the mention of his name*!!! I loved that Blake obliterated Eva’s thoughts, patterns, and walls. He made her forget who she was and who she pretended to be. I loved that he got her…truly could see her. Could make her want more. Could cause her to want him. And I LOVED his words that could disarm your heart and disintegrate your panties in one sentence. Dang, he was good!

“Innocence stolen. A life lost. Trust broken. Pieces of me scattered about like a dusting of shattered glass. Dismembered. Crumbled.”

As an aside from all these things that conjured rainbows and unicorns, I ugly cried something fierce! Live Me tore me up like a piece of paper being ripped into a million pieces and left to float to the ground. Proceeded by someone stomping all over said ripped papers until they were mashed into the ground with visible indents. And then finally, gasoline thrown on them and a match struck. OMG! Celeste Grande! What did you do to me? As it sucked the breath from my lungs, I became the most alive, dead person ever.

“You just don’t get it, do you? I don’t just love you. I’m living you! My heart beats you. My lungs breathe you. You’re in my f***ing veins!”

I am convinced that Live Me had a soul. One that Author Celeste Grande opened up, revealed in it love’s truths, and gave us the passion and pain that changes it, for the good and the bad. It was a beautifully emotional, slow blaze of attraction and destruction. My eyes are set on book two.

“Oh, I am good. Make no mistake about that. I’ll be the best you’ll ever have. Rock your world and make you beg for more. And that’s a promise.”
