Synopsis

Technically, you aren’t supposed to fall in love with your best friend’s girl.

But if we’re talking technicalities, he wasn’t supposed to be cheating on her every other weekend, either.

The day I met Mira York, I knew she was off-limits. But after months of stealing side-glances while he ruined the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen, I realized there wasn’t a rule in the world I wouldn’t break to make her mine.

She chose him anyway.

My Review

Thrive by Author Aly Martinez is book two in the Guardian Protection series. It can be read as a standalone, and is a second chance at love story.

“It’s crazy how one person out of the billions on this planet can change the entire trajectory of your life. But that was exactly what had happened.”

Jeremy and Mira found Love at a young age. Unfortunately, things got screwed up, people got in the way, and life took a drastic change.

“And that was the exact moment I decided I was quitting my job, getting my girls, chaining Mira to my bed, and then spending the rest of our natural lives in an underground bunker.”

I need to start this review with a huge, “I SWOON FOR LARK!” There you go. I’ve said it. This man MADE Thrive. His cynicism, bullheadedness, and caveman tendencies were perfectly balanced with his ability to handle fragility, his love for those with whom he was close, and his compassion. Add to this, he was a BADASS! Bam…the man of the year!

“Lies. Our universal language. As long as we were all telling them, a few more wouldn’t hurt.”

The premise of the story line was what originally drew me to this novel. The plot sucked me in. Everything else kept me, rapt in such a lust-filled state that I regretted the moments when I had to put it down to adult.

“Everyone knows that the queen is the most powerful piece on the board.”

Angst is a special part of books for me. Mira and Lark gave us such extreme moments of this that it could be carved out with a knife. Push me, pull me, drag me…then shock the living daylights out of me. Oh yeh! Perfect! Action packed scenes, heated exchanges, and moments of comic relief that left me cracking up filled in the gaps as a buffer for my heart that was attempting to beat out of my chest.

“I fell in love with Mira York in the back of that truck, one stolen kiss at a time.”

Thrive was a novel of intense and finally fulfilled love that gave me chills and thrills. Loved it!
