Dr. Hannah Walker is starting her first year as a Visiting Professor at Thurston University. A graduate of Thurston, she's familiar with the town, has friends, and is waiting on her perfect job to open at Wilmington College. She's run from every serious relationship she's had in pursuit of her career goals.

Igor Finley recently moved back to his hometown after his last military deployment and discharge because of his PTSD. He's returning to Thurston University for his degree, so he can provide for his two young children.

There were fireworks when the two met, but will they be able to keep them out of the classroom? Will Hannah stay in Thurston once she realizes her feelings, or will she be carried away like a Breeze towards her career goals?

I received this book for free from Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

My Review

Breeze is the debut novel from Author Ashley Hampton. It is a taboo student/teacher read.

Hannah has had her fill of cheaters. Men are now in her no-go list and she intends to keep it that way. Finley has just returned from his last tour of duty. He is now trying to acclimate himself back into society and establish a somewhat normal life for himself. However, he has more baggage than Hannah can imagine, and she is hiding some secrets too.
Told in dual points of view, Breeze was a sweet story of finding love when you least expect it. It had interesting primary and secondary characters. The story line was taboo in nature, although that was not the main focus of the story. I felt like there was a skeleton for a great story, but, at times, it lacked the emotional pull that I enjoy so much in books. However, that being said, I believe that new authors deserve more than one glance, and look forward to the next novella, I Need You, in this series.

“So were you serious about what you said earlier?” Finley asked as he sat down on the couch and pulled me into his lap.

“About you getting lucky? Nah, I was kidding. Why? Do you want to get lucky?” I teased as I kissed a line from his cheek to his jawbone and down his neck.

He groaned. “You have no idea.” He leaned his head back as I peppered his neck with kisses and ran my hands underneath his shirt over his washboard abs. I lightly trailed my fingernails down his chest to the waistband of his jeans when I heard him gulp. “That feels so good, Hannah.”

“If you think that feels good, maybe we should take this some place a bit more private,” I said standing up from the couch and extending my hand to Finley. He jumped from the couch and took my hand. Leading him down the hallway to his bedroom, I opened the door and quickly pulled him into the room before quietly shutting the door behind us.

As I turned around, Finley pinned me to the door. He captured my hands and pulled them high above my head before reaching down for the hem of my shirt. He removed it uncovering the black bra I had underneath.

“Wow,” he said breathlessly.

I placed my arms around his neck and pulled him to me. Kissing Finley was unlike kissing anyone else. Just kissing him made my limbs weak as my entire body warmed. His hands slid up my sides and covered my breasts. He lightly squeezed my breasts before running his hands behind my back to undo my bra. Wow, he knows the one-hand maneuver. Classy. As he removed my bra, I reached down to take his shirt off. “Holy shit.”
