She can't stand them.
Hates them.
Refuses to be one.

Tessa Brooks is strong-willed, sassy, and determined, on the brink of dominating in the testosterone-fueled sport of horse racing. She’s spent her life avoiding the norm, staying true to herself to achieve her ultimate goals.

Her relationship with Jace Hitchen, her brother's best friend, just might be the biggest cliche of all. Over the years, he’s been her protector, her annoyance, her confidante, her crush. But giving in to what she's really wanted for the last ten years could be the very thing that destroys everything she's worked for and wanted. Can Tessa achieve her dreams for the future, but still hold on to the past?

I received this book for free from Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

My Review

“…weren’t the most intense and profound moments in life found when we were drunk…on something?”

Jock is the newest novel by Author C.M.Foss. It is a friends to lovers story with a bit of taboo, best friend’s sister, twist.

“I drank him, I absorbed him. I let him into my soul…”

Jace and Tessa have grown up together. They have always been close and innocently affectionate with one another, sharing triumph and losses. As they have gotten older, their thoughts of one another have begun to change, but so have life’s demands.

“…I have had you. And I’m pretty sure I’m gonna need to have you again.”

Told in first person point of view, Jock was a sweet love story. It spoke to me of timeless love, and learning to compromise and recognize other’s dreams in order to embrace the future. I loved Jace and Tessa. I cheered for them, cried for them, laughed at and with them, and rejoiced with them in the end. They had some major obstacles to overcome. Jace was such a good man. The way he chose to embrace these blew me away. He was definitely a book boyfriend.  Tessa’s friend, Cooper, was her lifesaver, literally. Showing her how to live and still keep her dreams intact. The story line was fast-faced and opened my eyes to stresses in the horse racing/jockey world that I had never thought of before reading. I am hopeful for a story about Drew and Cooper, as I think they have quite one to tell.

“…you deserve it. You deserve to be earned.”
