Loss, betrayal, addiction . . . on their own, each of these heartaches can break you, but mix them all together and the concoction will ruin you.

When I closed the door on my past I didn’t expect it to come back and haunt me. But when you’re the sole person who can save the only man you’ve ever loved, you rush through that door, face your fears, and pray for the best.

Only, anything good has been long forgotten. In its place is destruction, devastation and enough regret to last a lifetime. I was appalled when she called for my help. I went willingly in hopes to make things right. But I never expected this. A broken man, a hopeless future, the beginning of the end.

She’s to blame for the mess of a man in front of me and I’m to blame for walking away.

Can things ever go back to the normal the three of us once knew? Or am I too late to fix the damage we’ve caused together?

My Review

Garden of Goodbyes by Faith Andrews is a contemporary romance, ugly cry novel.

“You owe me nothing, not even your tears. Forgive me, my love, my one and only.”

Violet and Eden are sisters and while they have many things in common, they are very different women, except for one man who ties them together.

When you survive the death of your heart, any other pain feels as insignificant as a pin prick. That’s what I believed. Only, it was a lie.

Having become a huge fan of Faith Andrews’ writing, I was surprised to see her write a book that deviated from the norm of her hot and swoony characters.  But, I love when authors take risks in books.  And I especially love when these risks are successful, and without a doubt, this book BLEW MY MIND.  Woah!!  The beginning of Garden of Goodbyes piqued my interest, giving me just enough to make me ingest all of the words on the page. By eleven percent, I was a goner.  Talk about adding drama to angst. I hung on every word, every breath, every pause, every action.

“Please let this work. Please, Eden, have mercy on us even though we don’t deserve it.”

What unraveled in the pages that followed took my emotions to such extreme highs and lows as I read the story of the three main characters, Violet, Eden, and Lennox.  My heart was literally pulled and torn between them.  They each had their own demons, their own triggers, their own moments of defeat.  Their story ripped me up and tore me to pieces.  It made me feel each regret, each moment of sadness, and nearly snuffed out my hope for renewal.

“You’ve been tormented with memories, but I live with the reality every day. I may have been some rare and exotic flower to him once, but you? Eden, you were and always will be his entire garden.”

At the conclusion of it all, I was just numb, completely lost emotionally.  Garden of Goodbyes was a story of blurred lines, life-altering love, forgotten chances, and hopeful rebirth.  It was messy love that tore me apart and left some pieces to the wind.

“I’d do anything for you, Edie. I’ve always loved you and I’ll never stop. Everything I do is for you. This, too. I’ll do it for you.”
