Fractions of seconds can do lots of damage. One decision can ruin lives. A blink can be tragic. And loving a Hollister…can hurt like hell.

I would know.

They say the average person can hold their breath under water for two full minutes when pushed to the extremes. Will Hollister has been holding his for years. The oldest of two elite swimming brothers, Will was always a dominant force in the water. But in life, he preferred to let his younger
brother Evan be the one to shine.

Evan got the girl, and Will…he got to bury all of the secrets. A brother’s burden, the weight of it all nearly left him to drown.

The daughter of two Olympians, my path was set the day my fingertips first touched water. My future was as crystal clear as the lane I dominated in the pool—swim hard, win big, love a Hollister.

My life with Evan burned bright. He gave me arms to come home to, and a smile that fooled the world into believing everything was perfect. But it was Will who pushed me. Will…who really knew me.

And when all of the pieces fell, it was Will who started to pick them up.

In the end, the only thing that matters are those few precious seconds—and what we decide to do while we still have them in our grasp.

My Review

Hold My Breath by Author Ginger Scott is a new standalone novel. It is a serendipitous love story.

… I live on a perpetual edge, held up by guilt and the dull ache forever left in my heart because I loved a boy, and fate stole him away from me.

Maddy Woodsen grew up with the Hollister boys. She laughed with them, competed with them, and even found young love. Will Hollister has always had a special connection with Maddy, both in and out of the pool. But, life threw both of them some unexpected curve balls, and now they are going to have to decide whether to continue to dodge them or meet them head-on.

“I want to remember what exceptional felt like so I make sure to never settle for less.”

Hold My Breath. I have complete understanding of the title now. It was a double entendre. I inhaled a mouthful of air at the beginning and didn’t come up for more until the end, holding my heart in my chest for fear I’d lose it. There was so much beauty, pain, loss, confusion, and anger, but most importantly there was love.

We need to clear the air completely so I can help him find the champion that lives inside of him.

Manddy and Will’s characters were perfectly crafted. They were strong, tenacious, and forgiving, proving that their love was written in the stars. Although there were some moments that I came undone with sorrow, the small morsels of sweet and funny moments dotted with memories from the past and hopes for the future that Ginger Scott sprinkled in along the way helped me stay afloat. She also delivered a secondary characters that touched my soul and my funny bone.

“I won’t let you fall.”

Oh, but I did. So hard! Hold My Breath was heart-changing and mind-clearing, highlighting the importance of persevering in life and living it with all your might. It was a reminder of reality by way of escape.
