Synopsis

I wanted a family with Cash.
We had dreams –building a house, kids, a dog, and, yes, even the white picket fence.
Or so I’m told.
I don’t remember anything about my husband. Not the wedding or the vows we shared.
The past ten years were erased and with time, they’re supposed to come back.
But this isn’t your typical case of amnesia
What if I’m not supposed to remember?
What if I was meant to forget?
Maybe I don’t want my old life back.
Because if the accident hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t have uncovered the truth.
Losing my memory wasn’t tragic.
Losing my memory was fate.

My Review

Until We Are Gone by Author Gia Riley is an emotionally compelling romance novel.

I feel like every time I open up a new novel by Gia Riley, I find a fresh facet of her writing that I had no idea existed.  As a reader, this always keeps me coming back for more. As a lover of words, this puts me on an extreme high.

“There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to win someone’s heart twice, especially when it was so easy the first time.”

Meadow and Cash are at a crossroads in their lives.  Tragedy has brought them to this place of confusion, and the future is hazy.  Only knowing the past can bring clarity into the picture.

“I never knew you could want someone so bad that you couldn’t breathe. It’s like being drunk without the pain of hurting someone to get there.”

Sometimes stories feel too real and cause us to have a soul-deep ache for the characters.

Sometimes they make us so anxious that we take deep breaths in between the breaks in the emotional surges to insure our lungs are still functioning and that we can breath long enough to find resolve. I knew from the start of Until We Are Gone that I was going to feel like my stomach took up residence in my toes.  I was also equally aware that my poor heart shouldn’t really roar at jet speeds after merely a few paragraphs were read.

Be that as it may, there was something so paralyzing and mysterious throughout this novel. Like if I breathed wrong, it would break open the clouds and the light that shone through would stop me in my tracks.  There was good reason for this feeling. If I had fallen off of a one hundred foot cliff, I think it might have equaled the descending force that was present throughout the bulk of this story.  Woah! I really had to hang on tight and white knuckle at some parts to keep from coming unglued.

Until We Are Gone became a non-stop read for me, one that consumed me from cover to cover.
