Hotshot San Diego sports agent Shaw Matthews and his sexy professional adversary Cassidy Whalen have gone head-to-head in the boardroom—and the bedroom. Now Shaw has scored a big promotion—but only because Cassidy turned it down and ran off. There are many things he wants when it comes to Cassidy—just not her pity. So Shaw rushes to a small town in Maine to retrieve his dignity—and maybe the woman he’s hungry to claim once more.

Cassidy has pushed herself to the max to realize her career dreams—until a family crisis brings her home. But Shaw isn’t letting Cassidy go that easily. Neither is gorgeous heartthrob Casey Michaels, the childhood sweetheart she left behind—and who now wants to win her back. As the rivalry between the two alpha males intensifies, and Shaw’s seductive moves reach a whole new level of heat, Cassidy has to make a choice. And this time, it’s for the highest stakes of all.

Getting Rough is intended for mature audiences.

My Review

Getting Rough by Author C. L. Parker is contemporary romance, friends to lovers novel.

Cassidy and Shaw are both driven and strong-willed. They have worked hard to get where they are in life and their careers. These qualities have propelled them to the top of their game, but also left them lacking in other areas. Having just won a large contract that both she and Shaw were competing for, Cassidy must relinquish it to Shaw and return to her hometown to care for her mom. Here many discoveries and surprises take place that shape a once indistinguishable future.

Told in dual points of view, Getting Rough was and fun and fast read that spoke of taking chances to find love.  It was the culmination of an enemies to lovers story that was tender but steamy.  In the midst of Shaw and Cassidy’s story, two additional characters shone brightly. This was the story that immediately captured my reader’s heart. Each interaction seemed to be building to a great crescendo. They made the read euphoric with reckless abandon.
