I fell in love once.

It was amazing. She was amazing. Life was amazing.

I lived for each time I could see her, and nothing else mattered, not that our families were enemies, our time together was forbidden, or we had to meet in secret.

Our love could conquer all.

Until it didn't.

So I was ripped away from the love of my life and shoved into hell, forced to continue without her.

It shattered me, broke the best parts of me, left me permanently damaged.

Or so I thought.

Years later, I swear history’s trying to repeat itself because she’s back in my life, and I’m just as drawn to her as I was before. But I'm older and wiser now, and I know she should stay away from a worthless ex-con like me.

So, I will not let her in. I absolutely refuse to hurt her. I will keep her away.

Then again, sometimes risking your greatest fear to get to a smile makes everything worth it, and besides, I’m not sure I can resist her, anyway.

This is the story of how Felicity Bainbridge changed my life forever, starting one summer day long ago after I was forced to change a dirty diaper...

My Review

“A lot of girls are missing out on the awesome that is you.”

I love every little thing about the Forbidden Men Series by Author Linda Kage. The name of the series says it all. The men in these stories are seriously hot, and their stories draw you in with their unique and taboo feel.

“Too late little girl. You lit the fire. Now it’s time to go up in flames.”

The Hatfields and McCoys have nothing on the Parkers and Bainbridges. When we begin Worth It, we are introduced to one of the most compelling stories and two young people, Felicity Bainbridge and Knox Parker. They come from different backgrounds, and are least likely to be paired together. But, as the saying goes, opposites attract, and theirs is an attraction that is undeniably intense. Put the two of these characters together, and we are in for a love story that is destined to be grand.

“I loved that I could hear the smile in his voice. My soul sang.”

Be still my heart, and sweep me off my feet. Author Linda Kage wrote a beautiful second chance love story that turned me every which way but loose. Told in first person points of view in the past and present, the hook of the story at the very beginning got me, and I was a goner. I could smell, feel, and taste every scene described in this book. Being introduced to Felicity and Knox in their young lives, and following them to the last page in their present adult lives, I felt every emotion imaginable: joy, pain, hate, sorrow, relief, and love. Felicity had the best personality and her sense of humor was endearing. Knox was every bit of the man I would expect, and I fell hard for him. Their dialogue was appropriate each step of the way, displaying the complex character development that contributed to the compelling nature of their story.

“This is my favorite place on earth.”

I was over-the-moon happy when Author Linda Kage gave glimpses of characters from previous books; one of my favorites had quite a bit of dialogue and I swooned for him all over again, feeling like it was just for me. Such moments of nostalgia and reflection were classic Forbidden Men, and what makes this a must-read series.

“Home run, baby.”
