Genres: Romance, Sports

Win the game. Lose your heart.
Everyone knows who I am and that I could have any female fan I want. That's supposed to be the "perk" of playing left field for the Boston Renegades. But I don't want just any woman; I want her.

She should be just another face in the crowd, but I can't stop thinking about the one night we spent together-and her look of regret the morning after.

Because Saylor Blackwell is the kind of woman who haunts a man. Smart, sexy as hell, and one of the best managers in the business. She's every ballplayer's dream woman. And I'd do anything to make things right with her.

I'm done sitting on the bench when it comes to Saylor Blackwell. Time to swing for the fences.

My Review

Grand Slam by Author Heidi McLaughlin is book three in the Boys of Summer series.  It is a sports romance story.

“Since the first night we ever spent together, I have craved your body, desired to know your soul, and longed to be a part of your life.”

Hee hee.  Author Heidi McLaughlin, you sneaky little writer. We first meet Travis at a bar doing his normal pick-up routine.  He’s used to being in the limelight, but his escapades are about to throw him into a social media storm unlike any other.

For her, I’d be a better man. All she has to do is say the words, and I’ll enter every self-help program available to be the type of man she deserves. But something tells me that she likes the bad boy in me and that she craves the dirty-talking, cocky man that I am.

Travis Kidd was a baseball player that every woman ran after and swooned over. The more I came to know of him, I understood why. They swooned for what he was on the outside. I was infatuated by what was revealed on the inside.  Seeing him take chance after chance to convince Saylor of his affection for her made me feel so bad for him.  He truly laid it all on the line.  I liked Saylor. I hated Saylor. Then I learned more about Saylor, and we came to an understanding. I loved that, in spite of her many obstacles, she worked hard and never quit.  She was a fantastic mom and might have put her daughter first, to her own disregard , but Saylor loved ever minute of it. Speaking of Lucy, this little girl was a joy and delight.  Every time she was in a scene, I smiled.  Her sweet and innocent nature made her charm that much more addictive. The bonds she created with others could be felt and seen.

I fear that I have unleashed a horny beast by the name of Saylor, and if I’m not careful, she’s going to slay me.

Combining these characters with other greats friends made for a fun story. But add to that the angst of an “office” romance, the unknown outcome of issues from our hero and heroine, and the ever-growing lust between Travis and Saylor, and an exceptional sports romance novel was actualized.

Grand Slam was an unconventional sports romance novel that flirted with sports, but featured tenderness and passion.  A great, fun-loving read.
